Why We’re Choosing Slow Fashion—And You Should Too

Why We’re Choosing Slow Fashion—And You Should Too

July 10, 2025

For a truly sustainable future, fashion must stop and reconsider its priorities.

At Infinity Firenze, we’ve made a clear choice: to work only with natural materials, safe for both the artisans who craft them and the people who wear them, and to pursue the highest quality in everything we create. One material perfectly embodies this philosophy: full-grain vegetable-tanned leather. Tanned with natural tannins extracted from plants, this leather respects people, animals, and the planet. It’s a conscious, timeless choice—and the opposite of fast fashion. Do we really need a new collection every season? There’s still a lot of confusion when it comes to leather and sustainability. What many don’t know is that tanning leather is, in fact, a way to recycle a by-product of the meat industry. Without it, raw hides would become waste. During the pandemic, when tanneries were forced to slow down or stop production, slaughterhouses struggled to manage the disposal of animal skins—proof that tanning plays an important environmental role.

Vegetable-tanned leather is also the ideal material for artisan work. Each hide has its own identity—its marks, texture, and grain. The skilled hands of our artisans bring these qualities to life, enhancing their warmth, depth, and natural beauty. Even though we have embraced e-commerce, we still believe the most meaningful shopping experience happens in person. When customers walk into our workshop in Florence, they’re greeted by the unmistakable scent of full-grain vegetable-tanned leather—rich, earthy, and evocative. Many describe it as a journey back in time, to when things were made slowly and with care, and life moved at a more human pace. When you choose full-grain leather, you’re not just buying a product; you’re investing in quality, sustainability, and timeless elegance. Each piece tells a story—of the artisan’s skill, the material’s natural beauty, and your commitment to making thoughtful choices.

Our hope for the years to come? To witness the revival of craftsmanship and slow fashion, and to see a growing awareness among consumers—a shift toward more mindful, responsible choices that respect both people, their work and the planet.
